I define it as pictures or video of naked people, naked for the purpose of getting me aroused for whatever reason, whether that be masturbation or to get me or my partner in the mood for some lovin' (or some other reason I can't think of).

As for why I abstain from it -- I honestly find pictures of scantily clad women more arousing than pictures of them naked. (I have no similar distinction in the flesh, though.) I have no moral objection to pornography.

Because you guys haven't done enough to influence the market. It's primarily a male audience they're aiming for.

Kind of the opposite of the romance novel market. Which is definitely aimed towards the women.

So yeah, I'd like to know too what pornography is defined as? Does erotic literature count? That increases the number I'm sure. I know lots of people who don't look at photos or watch videos, but will read very descriptive stories. To me I'd consider that pornography just as much as photos or videos (if not more so in some instances!)

That sounds like quite a technicality to me. You look at sexual images for sexual enjoyment. Just because they aren't nude doesn't change anything to me.

As for those who say they don't use porn--how about things like the genre of bodice rippers? Porn that doesn't meet the technical definition of porn. How about magazines like FHM and Stuff?

But that's not the way the question was phrased. The question is, "Do I use pornography," not "Do I look at sexual images for sexual enjoyment." By the way I define pornography, I have to answer the question in the negative.

As for literature of this sort, no, I also don't read works whose primary purpose is to arouse me -- nor for that matter do I use phone sex, in case anyone was thinking of that as pornography as well.

I suppose you can approach porn from two sides: on the other hand there's the personal reaction and arousal, which can be achieved by watching porn or watching your wife/girlfriend/mirror, whatever rocks your boat. There is little difference that way. But on the other hand there are social issues related to pornography and arts in general, and what is the intent of the material in question. The argument that rapists and child molestors use porn obviously takes a social rather than a personal point of view (even if it is a bogus statistic).

I usually use my memory of the porn I have seen and don't often use a video of porn. I only have one and have watched it several times. The brain is a good creator of porn.
