That's going to be hard news for people who thought they believed in the doctrine of the trinity. They generally say they don't know what it means, but they know it's true anyway.

They know the doctrine of the trinity. They don't understand it, maybe. But knowing and understanding are two different things.

DNFTT, people.
Let's see just how honestly you can't comprehend it...

Mind you, with the atheist/theist ratio on this board, the number of questions fired away by atheists can often accumulate to overwhelming proportions, and too much for just one person to tackle within their available timeframe. It would be nothing short of unreasonable not to take this into account.

- page one Amie is kindly thanking people for their imput

- page two Goliath disagrees with the nessecity for defining God in some way, in order to assert one doesn't believe in God. While not distinguishing between not holding a specific belief, and stating one doesn't hold said belief or at least blurring the distinction. As the discussion further on in this thread points out, a distintion that is deemed of some relevance, and one opinions vary on.
Goliath does point out the difference between not holding a belief in the existence of something, and believing that something doesn't exist. Amie kindly thanks Goliath for this explaination.

- page three Goliath gets on Amie's case, claiming she isn't paying attention, and comparing her to a whiny child to boot... a stupid and unnnesecary clash. Goliath's position that one doesn't need to define what one doesn't believe in is correct, though Amie from the start addressed the issue of STATING one doesn't belief in God. (Check the o.p. it IS there folks... she repeatedly mentioned how it's about CLAIMING to not believe in a god later on.) Need I remind this distinction has been deemed of relevance and debated on by several posters later on?

Are you going to claim this is all stubborn little theist Amie's fault?

- Page five... by now one poster is ridiculing Amie, another claims her hallucinations are as real as Amie's personal experiences...

-By page seven Sockpuppet comes jestering around with invisible tootsierolls, and when Amie takes a stand for her position of tollerance that everybody is entitled to their beliefs as long as they're not harmfull to others...
...she's advised to leave and visit x-ian boards, held accountable for the content of a Bible she doesn't even take literal or has written for that matter...

And you honestly cannot comprehend how any of this just might be a teeny weeny bit of a turnoff? And it's Amie showing HER true colors???

Oh and your transparent attempt at kicking her some more and calling her childish by choosing the toy-metaphor hasn't gone unnoticed. Real mature!

Hi Infinity Lover.... I too thought Amie's quest from the OP was recieved well at first. Then a couple of participants " crashed the party" so to speak. I would think that the childish manners are on their part certainly not on Amie's!

I once heard the Trinity described beautifully as the Lover, the Beloved, and the Love between them.

That's what my fundy mom always said. We can't understand things with our puny minds, so shut up and don't ask questions! She also said to never learn too much, it was dangerous! ooooo
The funny thing is, fundies will say that, and then discribe God dowm to the last detail, including all his needs and wants!

Which one's the lover, which the beloved, and which the love between them?

Nicely put. The Lover is the Word, the Beloved is the Word became Flesh and the Love is the continuity of Life in the Flesh.

Default Beaming Up Now!

Infinity Lover,

Your synopsis of this thread is right-on!!!!

Amie showed a lot more courage by relating her experience and inviting competing critiuqe than a lot of the jackals that gratuitously dissed her have. Some people need to outgrow their anger and rebellion and find more constructive ways to present themselves.

I've been an atheist longer than most of you have been alive. So all of you who think that you're all grown up now, but still like to throw stones...You still have a LOT of growing to do.

Beam me up, Scotty! Now!
