So now we've got the priest in the magazine article, a bunch of jokes in movies, and a former college roomate's gay cousin. I can't believe I never put it together before.

It's okay. Sometimes, if you aren't paying attention, things go right over your head.

Try not to be such a skeptic all the time.

That's right, we've sidetracked this thread enough.

Continue with the pope-bashing. . .

Call me a skeptic, but this just doesn't do it for me.
The number I remember reading is 30% of priests are gay. But the estimates vary considerably. From this letter, from a priest: "[I]n a conversation with a highly placed priest of the archdiocese he stated that approximately 35% of priests were homosexuals. It was most disconcerting to read the following article in which Fr. Cozzens, the head of a Catholic seminary, says that estimates range as high as 60% of American priests are homosexual." And from ABD News "Sipe, too, estimates that between 25 percent and 45 percent of American priests are homosexual in orientation."

Martin Luther
L. Ron Hubbard
the first passenger in a flying saucer
OR...................????????

Help me out here guys, I know that there's some more founders of the one and only true cult, sect, club etc who claimed unique status based on a vision.

What? I'm sorry, you lost me. Who's seeing visions? Your Jesuit priest from the article? Is he starting a cult? Where are you going with this? It was your example in the first place to prove how almost entirely gay the Catholic priesthood is.

"There are absolutely no grounds for considering homosexual unions to be in any way similar or even remotely analogous to God's plan for marriage and family," the document says.

"Marriage is holy, while homosexual acts go against the natural moral law

Well the Catholic Church can only sanction marriages that have been arranged in heaven and this cannot possible be a homosexual arrangement because it is against natural law (I don't think that there is such a thing as natural moral law).

I also do not think that the Church will ever try to prevent others from doing so but it is just nice to be the guy that can later say "see I told you so." Be reminded here that the Catholic church never alienated gays while not too long ago it was a felony offence in America.

I also think that the large percentage of homosexuals in the priesthood is the direct result of our equal gender society (as opposed to the old "opposite sex society"), which is exactly what the Church opposed some years ago. So here we can already say "we told you so." The problem is that the Church has become a secret hiding place for homosexuals and that is not exactly what she had anticipated.

Streamline et KKholiday:

I found if I adjusted the tin-foil a bit on the hat, the connections come in much clearer. . . .

. . . colors!

Anyways, to add a bit of seriousness to this:

Quote:

Ah really . . . and we know this where? Who makes the arrangement? Who handles the divorces?

Quote:
. . . and this cannot possible be a homosexual arrangement because it is against natural law. . . .
Really? Unfortunately, nature does hold examples of same sex relationships.

So where is this "natural law?" Does it allow me to get out of my parking tickets? I was FRAMED!!

Furthermore "the Bible" does not forbid it--sorry, would recommend a consultation with a recent paper in the Journal of Biblical Literature on the Leviticus prohibitions that demonstrate they forbid a position--"better to give than receive."

And the point of all of that?

One can believe for himself whatever he wants.

He cannot expect it to apply to the rest of the world.

A lesbian friend was once studying some Christian literature as well as Jewish, and I asked her what she was doing.
"Trying to find answers" or some such says she.
"Don't bother" I said, "you can't be a lesbian and a practicing either."
She took offence at first, but once we clarified what the bible has to say about homosexuality, she stopped studying. Answers will be found elsewhere.

That said, you can't fault JP for proclaiming that homosexual marriages are anathema to the JudeoChristian god. They clearly are, and he is simply being honest and true to his religion at the expense of political correctness.

I personally have no qualms with homosexual marriages. I'm all for them. However, I'm not a Christian, Jew, or Muslim, so I have that luxury which comes with thinking for myself.

I do have a problem with Episcopilians allowing homosexuals into the church, and recognizing homosexual marriages as church doctrine. Don't get me wrong, it's their religion and their right to be as hypocritical as they wish. But at some point, while watering your religion into meaningless, it must surely become more sensible to confess that the whole package is just so much meaninglessness, and dump the works.
Religious beliefs, are after all, supposed to be in compliance with the word of God Almighty. If you believe he spoke about something, and bothered to have it recorded, you really shouldn't go pissing around with it, should you?
