Hey now! I'll let that go since you're obviously suffering from a suppresed infantile incest fantasy...

Chris,

Spin tends to flurries of messages. Suddenly, he stops and then you start posting flurries of messages and arguing on the same side of the debate. Could just be a coincidence.

It is.

I'm off now, time for Spin to take over.

I haven't squirmed or side-stepped an inch over the course of this thread.
----------------

Aww, no. You've just crapped on for no good reason about some theory you don't believe.

PB:
----------------
Would you care to present your case for the immorality of meat eating? I'd be more than happy to address it.
----------------

When the best you can do to address a plea for a moral defence of eating meat was to say in equovocal terms that you reject moral standards, I can't see you addressing much more than an envelope.

tronvillain,

Would you prefer not to be born or live in a closet all the life allotted to you before you are painlessly killed?

tronvillain,

Growing up on a ranch merely makes you hardened against animals because you are used to the ambiguous treatment of them as mainly objects. If you had grown up on a human animal farm, you may just as easily have been hardened against them as well. (This is a bit like what happened to German soldiers forced to work at concentration camps.)

You reflect your training.

When you've dealt reasonably with Jeffrey Dahmer, you can then talk reasonably about your gratification. <edited to delete inflammatory insult>

::Spin you can get your point across without resorting this kind of analogy::

spin: What would you like to know?

99%: Why should we stop eating meat?

If you have no moral standard other than your stomach, there is no "should" about it. But humans are more than just ambulant stomachs.

PB asks:
-------------
Did you ever raise this issue in any context except that of your little rant? I don't remember seeing it. AT any rate, what is the relevance? Do you doubt that 95% of your thinking, most likely including the notion that it is morally wrong to cause sufferring to any sentient being, was programmed into you?
-------------

You lot prove it must be part of the 5% accident.

spin:
-------------
What has "moral subjectivism" got to do with reality?
-------------

PB:
-------------
Plenty.
-------------

Real meaningful response there PB old lad.

PB:
-------------
What has "moral objectivism" got to do with reality?
-------------

I have never used the term. You tell me.

PB:
-------------
Again, if you'd like to start a new thread in which you make a positive case for your brand of morality instead of assuming it from the outset and rejecting arguments that do not comply to it, I would be more than happy to participate.
-------------

Given the lack of content regarding your "views" on contract theory, I can't say I'm inspired to seek further discussion on theoretic moral issues.
