I can recommend "The Triumph of Evolution: And the Failure of Creationism" by Niles Eldredge 2001 New York:W.H. Freeman and Co.
Also "Get a Grip on Evolution" by David Burnie 1999, London:The Ivy Press Limited. Very accessable, particularly Burnie's book. By the by, being a Christian does not mean that you need, or should be a creationist. |

I just finished Science on Trial: The Case for Evolution (the last evolution book at my local library, have finally read them all ). I thought it was great, I wish I would've read it first. I also read The River Out of Eden, it was another great book I would recommend.

And I'm working on The Blind Watchmaker. I was really impressed by the biomorph stuff. Actually, though, one thing that struck me as (yet more) powerful evidence was the convergent-but-not-quite-the-same evolution of similiar features in similiar organisms. The Blind Watchmaker is a quite enjoyable read - enjoyable enough that it's keeping me away from A Game of Thrones, and I love fantasy literature.
