This is just ... hard. Whoa.

Ditto. I used to be into all that stuff in a big way too. I wonder if that's the case with a lot of skeptics?

I still have a wee bit of hope for Bigfoot. Remember, lots of people thought the mountain gorilla was a myth. They discovered a previously unknown species of herdbeast in the jungles of Vietnam or Cambodia, didn't they? And there are supposed to be hundreds of undocumented species in the Amazon rain forest. Couldn't a wily primate species, more intelligent than the gorilla, survive undetected for a long time too?

Yeah, I'm reaching; but still, the Bigfoot/Sasquatch/Yeti legend DOES go back further than this footprint-faking guy, and Bigfoot-like creatures have been reported on other continents as well.

Of course, I'm aware of the drawbacks...no Bigfoot skeletons have been found, no fossils, no footprints that couldn't have been faked, no hair samples, no droppings that the scientific community has confirmed as coming from anything but known species. Plus, the population(s) must be very small--could it sustain itself this long?

I definitely think there's a better chance there's no Bigfoot/Sasquatch/Yeti than that there is, but it nobody minds too much, I'm gonna continue holding out for the big guy.

I for one, like to keep track of Cryptozoology. When I was still laboring under theistic indoctrination, I would, if asked, confess to believing in Nessie.

Now, I'm a whole lot more skeptical, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if there were large, unknown creatures, waiting to be discovered. I would particularly like it if the Sucuriju Gigante or Megalania Prisca were to be shown to exist.

bigfoot is a lot like God. a ton of people believe in him, despite absolutely no evidence that he exists. people spend a great deal of money chasing him down, hoping to be near him, to share in the excitement and awe. bigfoot makes people happy. bigfoot makes them feel secure. bigfoot gives them a reason to exist. a lot like a god.

I love my Bigfoot. He makes me happy, secure and I like to be near him. There is that B.O. problem I've been meaning to bring up, though. Just haven't found the right opportunity yet.

Years ago, when Professor Rhine was conducting his experiments in the paranormal at Duke University, my wife and I used to sit at the kitchen table and do card guessing exercises. We spent quite some time at this but never turned up anything beyond statistical average. We finally got tired of it and quit. Maybe we just didn't have faith.
