anyone else remember the Opus comment (back when he was still a penguin who couldn't speak well) Prayer Pimples for Hairy Fishnuts?
It's so weird reading those early Bloom County strips isn't it?

Apparently it's pretty similar to the laserdisc, which had a lot of content that didn't get included in the first DVD release. Anyway, I'm going to buy it despite not having a DVD player yet.

this is bordering on needing to be moved to media and pop culture...

We bought the Matrix before we had a DVD player...

Well, this forum gets almost no posts otherwise, so why not?

This is obviously a conspiracy! someone is being terribly oppressed by the ruling class! just because I can't tell you who is being oppressed and how does not mean that efforts are not being made to stifle voices of protest!

The low post counts in this forum do have all the earmarks of a conspiracy

1) A complete lack of evidence of a conspiracy is a strong indication of a cover-up
2) Absence of evidence is clearly evidence of absence
3) Considering that the people who subscribe to Non-Abrahamic religions is far greater than those with Abrahamic tendencies, I would conclude that the oppression occuring must be on a massive, global scale.
4) and just what did happen with all of those Hare Krishnas that we would see at the airports....

The pieces are all falling into place.....

Geez, i did have something sort of relevant to the original. Now I wonder if I should bother.

Oh well. In earlier 80's at age 10 I too visited the West Virginia Temple. I remember the food sucked real bad and some little Hare Krishna boy spit on me.
But they had pretty water lillies.

I dont know if anyone is interested in this thread anymore but I thought I'd post anyway.

When I was going to school in the US one of my class mates was a Hare Krishna 'devotee'. He used to organise meetings and prayer groups. He invited me to one of his meetings and of course I had to go to see what it was all about. They served some really good vegetarian food (I'm a die hard carnivore but like my occasional veggies) after which everyone started praying. I felt kind of silly sitting cross legged with my eyes shut and trying to bluff my way through. Anyway, the prayers kind of degenerated into chanting and before I knew it there was a full fledged dancing/swaying session in progress. It was a lot like christians talking in tongues, they seemed to go into some kind of trance. It was a bit too much for me to swallow and I got the hell out.

After a few days I met my class mate again and asked him why he joined the Hare Krishnas. He told me he wanted to get a green card and the Hare Krishnas as a religious organisation had a special quota.

Yes, a number of people I know are members of ISKON. Because if they go to the West, then ISKON hostels allow them to stay for free for three days with food thrown in.
