Traditional Xtian dogma seems much like bipolar disorder, traditionally called manic-depression. The manic part is to claim that we are divine lookalikes with the Universe created for our benefit, and the depression part is to claim that we are evil, depraved sinners who can never do anything right and who deserve nothing less than an eternity of torment.

So if this immeasurably vast universe was created just for humans, and Jesus is supposed to save the humans, does he have to go to every planet with intelligent life and die on those planets too???

That would make sense because Acts 1:9 says that when Jesus ascended into heaven, his physical body rose up into the sky and he was hidden by a cloud. That's how Jesus got back up into heaven, so obviously heaven is in outer space somewhere, and Jesus zooms through space from heaven to the planets and back again. He goes back to heaven to visit his dad.

OR, maybe Jesus has a lot of other brothers and sisters, and they
each have to go to a planet. That's only fair. Oh, and they use the lifeless planets as rest areas, and enjoy the beautiful scenery while they're there. This scenario is certainly possible. I mean God could have an infinite number of children right? And it always seemed weird to me that God only had one son, and no daughters.

But if God has all these children, why did he need to create us? Why make human children that need saving anyway? And even if God did only have one son, couldn't God be happy with just Jesus? I mean, he is the perfect son. God could have saved poor Jesus the trouble and not made humans in the first place.
Imagine if poor Jesus had to go visit every single planet and get killed over and over again! Now that's sacrifice!

I am so grateful that Jesus saves not only us Earthlings, but our fellow Railean bretheren as well.

Aquila, I'm under no (or at the least, very few) delusions of grandeur. I would not pretend that I am worthy, or deserve, the creation of an entire universe. In fact, I think Christians in general would feel slightly awkward knowing that God has done all this for us, and yet we are nothing more than sinners. It's not arrogance, it's incredibly humbling. In one sense, yes, you must feel incredibly loved knowing that this was created for you, however at the same time, you've got the humbling burden of all this. We do not deserve this vast creation, and yet we have been given it through his infinite love.

Can I puke now? God loves us so much that if we do not choose to believe in his 'son' as our savior then he is going to torture us eternally. DAD OF THE FUCKIN YEAR I tell ya! So all the people that used their intellect, logic, reasoning Etc to choose to not believe in God are doomed. People who cannot conclude that God is real because some erroneous and self contradictory book makes the assertion while scientific observation of the universe yields ZERO evidence for the existence of such a deity are going to be burning forever. FOREVER! He made this grand universe just for us, this endless expanse of space to make him all the more elusive, just for us. In fact he created all he laws of nature to demonstrate the complete lack of need for divine intervention, just cause he loves us. God made me smart enough to question his existence, deny it, and make me suffer for eternity for it. I got one middle finger on each hand up for God...

Actually, if God really wanted to impress us, he wouldn't have made the thing so messy. I mean, most of the matter of the universe is just so much dirt floating randomly about.

That same pathetic argument is used by Christians to justify destroying the environment. After all, it was made for us, and not the plants and animals, right?

That is just not true. I am a Christian and I am very much concerned about the environment, have been for decades. I conserve water, energy. I try to limit pollution. I've actively crusaded against polluting industries to force them to comply with regulations.

There is a concept of "stewardship" in Christians. It means to care for the planet that God has given us. Yes I know, we all stink at it, otherwise the planet wouldn't be in this mess. Well Christians aren't the only ones who have messed up the environment. The guilt for this should be shared among everyone.
