I was just wondering what everyone thinks are some of the greatest rivalries in sport - teams or individuals, past or present, whatever you like!

I'm so pissed I missed game 1. Hopefully I'll catch game 2.
![]() Any other NRL rivalries though, other than Origin? |

I know us Broncos fans used to hate Balmain, not so much any more, especially since the merger. In particular, Benny Elias, used to get booed not just when they announced the team lineup, but whenever he made a tackle, or scored (although that was very rare).
Anyway, Game 1 was a pathetic display by the maroons. But you know there's an equalizer coming, Kerry Packer wouldn't have it any other way. |

Just to make this chat expand beyond this arid island, I'll put a vote in for the Battle of Alberta; Calgary Flames and Edmonchuk Oilers.

The world religion (ie Soccer) has some massive rivalries. Brazil vs Argentina for instance, or Germany vs Holland. In Club Soccer you have Barcelona vs Real Madrid, Inter Milan vs AC Milan, River Plate vs Boca Juniors and many others. |

Carlton-Collingwood. Probably the biggest/oldest rivalry in the AFL.
In MotoGP, Max Biaggi-Valentino Rossi. Dunno why- Biaggi isn't half the rider Rossi is. The obvious one in most sports. Oz-England. |

Australia vs New Zealand in Rugby Union is also a good one, although I'm told that the New Zealand vs South Africa rivalry is even bigger.
