The statement "making fun of religious leaders is not bad" is sort of like the statement "making fun of people is not bad". It's true some of the time, depending on how much you mind hurting peoples' feelings.

Its better if you just read for yourself. The thread was closed for obvious reasons.

Slightly Dramatic?

you sure have a hard time letting things go don't you? Fenton it was not my intention to jump all over you. In fact all I said about *that* particular comment of yours was that I felt it had about as much charm as a soggy cornflake. That was my opinion. However I certainly felt it was a bit out of line for you to tell an atheist who agreed with me that he is thinking with his dick.

Look Fenton I apologize if you feel I was being antagonistic. That was certainly not my intent.

i thought the joke was kind of funny. but then i am a foaming at the mouth atheist. but i did like the way you responded with ronin about his "family portrait"

also fenton i didnt see this shit hammering you spoke of (is shit hammering a word?)

seebs, i dont think that making fun of people is bad. i am ok with people making fun of me and i deal with it using sarcasm. i just make fun of them as well. its amusing, offensive maybe, but still funny.

I don't think it's either bad or not bad. I think that, in some cases, making fun of people is bad, and in others, it's okay. The question is mostly one of the spirit in which something is intended, plus a little common sense about how it would be taken.

i think as a rule i say that making fun of people is ok. and then of course there are exeptions. so i guess we agree on this one?

Yup. I just get mad when people are mean-spirited about it.

Why is this useless thread even here in an upper forum? It shouldn't even be on this board at all. It serves no other purpose but to instigate and irritate.

Despite how easy it is for some peole to justify their behaviour, it does not make it right.

Post Moving to ~~Elsewhere~~

I (like everyone else, apparently) fail to see the merit, philosophical or otherwise, in this thread. As such, I'm moving it to ~~Elsewhere~~.
