Some of them really think they have "objective scholarship" as evidence that Islam and Christianity have nothing to do with each other. Some guy said that, and I told him that if he makes a comment about scholarship proving something, he should give some small reference. He provided a link to a page entitled "Anti-Muslim Library." Objective. Yeah.

He agreed when I told him that a site proclaiming to be anti-Muslim is hardly an objective source. He provided another link, and the page looked the same except the words "anti-Muslim" were gone. I told him that I didn't have time to wade through that whole library searching for his specific references (hinting that he might try to specify where his relevant passages might be). He instead summarized a bunch of crap about how the pagan polytheistic religion that was there before Islam was incorporated into Islam, how Allah is really derived from some pagan god and not the Christian god at all, how his father was named "Abdullah" and that was in reference to the older religion, and (get this) how pagan influences in Christianity don't count because there's nothing of any other religion in Christianity's doctrine or holy books, that it's completely pure and without any influence or contributions or rip-offs from any other religion. Laugh.

I don't even try any more. The contortions they go through trying to rationalize this stuff are frightening. I'm not a contortionist. Yes, someone did go over the exact translations from Arabic and how it works. No luck.

I'm going to read a little on Hinduism. The first thing I saw during a quick search and scan of the internet provided a piece on Krishna which sounded incredibly like Jesus. Of course, Satan was responsible, or else they just ripped it off of Christianity.

I deleted the bookmark to the one that said anti-muslim on the top of the page, but if it is indeed a seperate page, this one might connect to it. I was "cleaning house" and I wasn't too careful, ya know?

I still haven't found the time to wade through all that.
