Well couldn't he have just left during the bombing for personal safety? He could repent for his "sin" afterwards. Also, wouldn't your god understand that the priest would just be preserving the gift of life your god gave him?

Well, you must understand that the vast majority of church-going Christians assume that they will end up in Heaven. When was the last time you heard any mention of Hell at a Xtian funeral? Even if the deceased was a complete jerk?
