Well.
Right now it's half past midnight in my neck-o-the-woods and I. CAN'T. SLEEP. ![]() I was doin' good.... felt nice and sleepy after my quiet evening of reading/posting on IIDB, a lovely caesar salad & a few light beers, and vegging on trash TV. Crawled into bed, felt the elusive wave of almost-sleep wash over me... then my husband called to say goodnight (he works night shift in the ICU). Upon hanging up, that was it - *PING*! Wide awake... now I can't sleep. The irony is that, last year when I took a 6-month hiatus from regular (9-5) work, I NEVER had trouble getting to sleep at night. It's only when I have to get up in a few hours that the beast of sleeplessness likes to rear its ugly head... Any fellow sufferers? Any suggestions? :boohoo: |

you said you could sleep when you werent working? maybe stress?
but i recommend Valerian. It smells like crap, but they work. Its a root extract and ive found it doesnt just wipe you out, it actually makes you sleepy. you can get some down at the health food store/chemist/drug store. im actually overly lethargic at the moment, too many quarter to five starts, too many late nights on infidelchat. ![]() |

yeah, hang out somewhere less interesting... maybe a christian site. that would put me to sleep in a heartbeat.
or... something soothing... like maybe warm milk, exercise, or masturbation. just don't mix the latter with the former. reading christian forums while masturbating is the express-way to hell, i've heard. |

visc,
ROTFLMAO!!!! I'll take that under advisement... I already tried the latter ![]() Jube - Ya might have something there...stress.... although my current job is not exactly stressful per se, there's something about having a "regular" schedule that seems to *eff* with my head. Valerian root... I will have to try that. I hate over-the-counter sleep pills 'cuz they tend to make my "wiped out" like you said... something more natural sounds good. I think I will make a cup of SleepyTime tea right now.... |

Point taken! Most of those herb-y things smell pretty nasty so I think I know what you mean
![]() I think that sleep *may* be creeping up on me... the SleepyTime tea I'm drinking at the moment seems to be helping... time will tell! Speaking of herbs/natural remedies etc., have you ever tried/heard reports of melatonin working for help with sleep? (LOL I almost typed melanoma... not good...) |

varlian root doesn't just smell bad, it smells BAD. Sort of like dirty socks that've mouldered in a locker for a week or so. My foot-fetishist cat loves the stuff (he also loves sticking his face in my shoes, so...)

I use a product called Simply Sleep, which I've only seen available at Sam's Club. It's basically nighttime cold medicine, without the cold medicine. Two tablets, an hour for them to kick in, and I am OUT. I don't take them if I have to be up in less than 12 hours.
