Br. Brojees (Booty),
Do you have any answers or comments for all of these questions I have raised. I may appear polemic but I would truly like to see these questions answered. [ April 28, 2002: Message edited by: BH ]</p> |

BH, evidently Booty never answered your questions. Did he ever send you a PM. I have a lot of repect for him and don't think he would leave your questions unanswered. I will not try to do so since I am not a part of the Church of Christ denomination.

I'm a FORMER member of the International Church of Christ.
It's ridiculous for them to say they are the true church and only ones saved, just because they think they have their doctrine correct. They are basically saying that "believing the right stuff" makes you saved. As if God will forgive all kinds of terrible sins, but not the sin of getting your doctrine wrong! Getting your doctrine wrong is no worse than many other sins. Many in the Church of Christ aren't very good Christians, yet they'll look at someone like Mother Theresa and say she's going to hell. She lived like Jesus, but since she's a Catholic, she's doomed. They think she must not have searched for God enough. If she had REALLY been looking for God, she would have ended up in the Church of Christ. That's really how they think! So I asked them, "What about my 80 year old grandparents who are good Christians, but live in the middle of nowhere, and there is no Church of Christ within 500 miles of them. Are they unsaved because they go to a Methodist church?" They said, "Well, if they are meant to be Disciples, then God will get them to move to a place where there is a Church of Christ." What a bunch of bullshit! That would mean that missions to other places are unneccesary, because you'd only need ONE Church of Christ in one city in all the world, and God would draw all people from around the world that are meant to be Disciples to that city! The International Church of Christ is JUST NOW starting to see the error of their ways, so they'll probably not say stuff like that publicly much longer. But that mindset is always going to be in the church. They'll always think that you have to believe the right stuff to be saved. They'll just change it to say that other churches or individuals, who believe like them, can also be saved. As long as they follow the correct plan of salvation. If you interpret the Bible differently, they think you'll go to hell. |
