PAVLOVIAN CONDITIONING & CHRISTIANITY
New 10. XXXX When Pavlov trained his dog to salivate (from hunger) at the sound of a bell he had to pair the food with the bell many, many times over an extended span of time. All that he had to do was to ring the bell without food and the dog would salivate. Then when he stopped giving the dog food and just rang the bell, in time the dog stopped salivating and the conditioning became extinct. If he paired the food with the bell just ONCE the conditioning comes back full force. I see an analogy with Christianity. People pray and don’t have their prayers answered and they lose faith in prays then suddenly one time that they do pray and their prayer comes to fruition the prayer response comes back full force.
