Hmmm, Where did all the Christians go? Why do they always challange you with, "well if you don't like Gods plan, come up with a better one!" It is so easy a middle school child could come up with a better plan. Why don't they ever learn?

I was thinking more along the lines of an annual review. But a weekly meeting would certainly be more in line with the 'father' figure motif.

"Hi everyone, God here. If we could all quiet down, I'd like to start conference #312,000. Also, before we get going, please note that once again Lucifer is unable to attend in person <chuckle snort>. He's dialed in from Hades. Can you hear us OK Luci (he hates it when I do that)? Good. Now, before we get into the agenda, I'd like to commend the Lynchburg, Va Southern Baptists for putting together one of THE BEST Easter pot-lucks I have ever been to. And thanks for not invting that Obnoxious Falwell character.

OK then, first on the agenda are the conversion statistics. A little disappointing, but as you can see we're still making some headway in the division and have a made some good trades with the Devils. We lost one of our nobelauriates to what he called "Obvious common sense", but in return we got a pair of married cousins from Arkansas!"

Maybe because that wasn't a better plan, it was just an attempt at one by someone who has no clue the entire grand scheme of creation and eternity.

Sorry, God's plan MUCH MUCH better, at least for us - you may not like it but don't think there is really anything you can do to stop God and make him change. He made the rules, if you don't like them, then thats your problem.

Magus, could you repost that? There wasn't any substance in what got through.

Thanks.

What will you theists do if we actually manage to defeat god during his second coming or whenever the prick decides to pop up (no pun intended).

Magus, do you have any proof of god's plan being any better, other than "god said so" or "the church told me so" or "I have faith, so that's all I need" ?

Let's see: you're saying that god's plan (rape victims become their rapists property) is better than one that advocates compassion to women who have been raped? (Do you remember an interesting argument that this was necessary because noone would be compassionate to rape victims?)

Ok, that makes sense. At least we know you're a true christian.

You forgot to insert your "the ends justify the means, even if the means includes rape torture and murder" comment. After all, God's plan is so wonderful that such things just have to be accepted as necessary. If God had commanded a little more compassion, his wonderful plan just wouldn't have worked, right?

The only thing they can think of to do is write dumb poems like "Footprints".
Dumb poem!?

Footprints is so awesome!

Heck, DMX included a few lines in one of his more spiritual rap songs

What is the argument ? Lay it on me. I skimmed Carrie's post and i think I disagree with almost half of what was attributed to God so...

Lets start off with the fundamental issue. Before we can think of a better plan what is God's plan?

Really? You know god's plan? Enlighten us PLEASE!!!!

If you don't know god's plan, then how are you to say it's much better? Speculation? The bible says so? If it's because the bible says so, then how are you to know the bible is true? Crap.. we're right back to where we began.

Carrie,

I read your post. You touch on a lot of different topics. Is there something specific you wanted me to respond to? I addressed the idea that you could come up with a "better plan" on the other thread. Not much to add.

I will point out that it was the Christians who rose up to speak against slavery in the United States, eventually changing public opinion where it could be ended. There were some Christians using the Bible as a defense of slavery, but the Bible has been used in history as a defense of just about everything, good or bad. That doesn't mean that's what the Bible actually teaches.

If there is something specific you would like to talk about please let me know.

Respectfully,

Christian
