Default HELP! Carpet troubles!

Jek got some oil paint on our carpet, and decided to pour about a cup, total, of Dawn on the spot. We've gotten rid of the oil paint, but we don't know how to get rid of the soap. We've been dabbing at the suds for about an hour now.

Help? Jekyll's second great idea was to pour olive oil on the now 6" x 6" spot to neutralise the suds. I've stayed her hand, for now.

You may be able to rent a small carpet cleaner that will suck up the mess. (In LA, you can rent them at the local supermarkets.)

Good luck.

lol, and when the pigeon popluation skyrockets out of control, we'll send in the lizards. And when they get out of control, we'll send in the snakes. And when they get out of control, we'll send in the mongooses...

Get a carpet cleaner. I don't know that it'll work, but it's your best bet.

Are those things expensive?

Jek tried the olive oil (I wasn't watching) and it helped with the suds, but there is still lots of soap in the carpet and now there's oil, too . She says that if we don't try to rinse the soap out, the dirt that the soap will attract will neutralise the soap and eventurally everything will come out right.

I'm so confused.

Urk, you aren't supposed to pour olive oil on the carpet, oil is oil. If Jek has poured more oil than the soap is capable of absorbing, then you're going to end up with a nice greasy stain on your carpet. Get a carpet cleaner ASAP, meanwhile, put baking soda if you have any on the spot, be sure to put plenty, it'll absorb any excessive oil, not to mention suds too.

I think you can also try vingear, but I'm not sure.

If all fails, either you invest in a professional cleaner, or look for a piece of furnture that'll cover up the spot.

Give Jek a good whack on the head

Send Jekyl to the movies and then rent a carpet shampooer. Make it a double feature - - the movie, that is.

And I don't know why she swallowed the fly.

I suspect that the suds would just disappear as the carpet dried anyway. If not, dilute them with water until the soap residue left over is at a reasonable concentration.
