I think we can separate the Catholic religion from any particular Catholic institution. There are certain Catholic doctrines that each church and priest is supposed to obey, but if some churches/priests violate them, it does not reflect poorly on the Catholic doctrines themselves, only on those churches/priests. Alonzo was speaking more in reference to that, methinks.
