The thing which caused Socrates to get killed is that he was opposed to many of the ideas of freedon of speech, and hence couldn't argue that it was his right to say what he wished to say without appearing to be hypocritical.

On the daimon issue, I'd say the daimon is likely a part of one's subconscious mind. There is a lot going on in the mind that one is not explicitly aware of, except perhaps in indirect ways. My subconscious mind once solved a vector math problem for me (correctly) such that I saw the answer appear before my mind's eye, unbidden and unsought. It was like getting a freebee answer out of a textbook. No, I don't think this was the result of a supernatural "math fairy".</strong>
I've had the same thing happen to me several times. I think I somehow have found a way to harness it so that, as an example, I can finish a calculus test intended to take 45 minutes in a period of 5 minutes and get a decent score on it.

Interesting footnote about this is media report in the last 2, 3 days about "out-of-body-experience(s)", wh. do have certain features in common w/ what we've been discussing here. You can look this, new, stuff up in the TIMES of 2,3 days back (sorry I'm not good @ specifics). The upshot appears to be (sure, small data-base; & not-yet-further-corroborated conclusions) that events of these sorts APPEAR to coordinate w/ neuro/physiological events, caught w/ brainscans, at specific brain site above/behind ear. I am pleased w/ these new data wh/ seem to back-up my bias, that the brain/mind, body/psyche stuff is ONE thing; and, to put it roughly (VAIRY
roughly): "If it's HUMAN, it's BODILY."
