Jumpin' Jesus on a pogo stick, Dave!
Go pick up a copy of "The Blind Watchmaker" by Dawkins. He crawls all over this eyeball fixation of yours. It is really not that hard to understand.
Any light receptor is better than none. Over really loooong periods of time, a simple light gathering indentation can, will, and did form this wonderfully, perfectly fucked up "design" of an eye. Shit, man. As long as this thread has been going, I could have evolved another eye.

Nah, I have read nothing so far to even suggest that the point of DNA where the mutations occurred could have been anything other than blind chance. And I think it did have to happen by blind chance.
You put the question to me to provide proof but I think that it is you that should give me proof since you believe or know that the point of DNA where the mutations occurred wan't blind chance.

I also think that you should see what someone on this post already put down. It's on page 3 - the one with the pictures and picture of a cell.

Quote:
Nor do I. It came about by blind chance plus natural selection -- keeping those ‘accidents’ that happen to be improvements -- which is THE ABSOLUTE OPPOSITE OF CHANCE. I suggest you write out one hundred times “natural selection is not random”. By definition, it's selection.
So you see. He says it came about by blind chance but it was the natural selection that isn't blind chance.

The point on the DNA strand where the mutation occurred was blind chance that it happened there because it could have happened anywhere on the DNA strand.

But maybe you just misunderstood what I was saying by thinking that I was saying that the mutations themselves were blind chance that they could have been caused.

What's with the head pounding? While a lot of his stuff deserves it, I don't really see anything in that post that does.

Perhaps I misunderstood. DavidH appears to be relentlessly insisting on his own special definition of blind chance, by "unpacking" it from its proper context, as the philosophers would say, despite having that proper context presented to him 17 times.

If I misunderstood this, I apologize.
