Default The Red Pill

I have noticed something about the Matrix Reloaded that nobody else I know has, and I can't for the life of me decipher its meaning.

When Neo visits the Oracle, she gives him candy [and eats one herself]. This candy is visually identical to Morpheus's red pill in the original Matrix movie. It is also interesting to note that although Neo accepts the candy, he does not eat it. Also, the oracle says "I love candy".

What the hell does this all mean? It can't be pure coincidence.

Or maybe that's what you're supposed to think.

Great observation!

Only, I don't have an explain, either. Anyone?

I think it shows that Neo has his doubts about the Oracle.

I think it is just an advert for Skittles or M&Ms.

It could tie back to the first film and show that the Oracle itself is not seeing the truth of things.

And Neo not eating his shows his mistrust, leading up to his revelation at the end of the flick.

Which begs the question:

How many blue pills does a guy have to swallow to get out of this shithole?

Maybe Neo takes it later on in the sequel.

Then again maybe it's just a subtle cue to go to the refreshment stand.

I was waiting for someone to say that.

i dont think it had a meaning, i think it was just a kind of nostalgic coincidence meant to create discussions like these.

Neo accepted the candy because it shows the futility of his own decisions towards a desired end.
He did not eat it as it reflected his choice at the end of the movie. My guess is that most Neos would have accepted and eaten the candy.

Maybe the Oracle wanted it to end just so much as Neo had, so she provided the test.
