i think there was a time when "christian rock" produced some pretty exciting stuff, but the desire to capitalize financially on the genre formed a second rate industry that threatens to sap energy from any creative artists that find themselves sucked into it. that, i'm sure, God hates.

I just hate it because it has no soul. Christian rockers seem a lot more interested in proselytizing than rocking. It's like, give me something interesting to listen to and maybe I'll give you a chance; if you're just going to drone on with the same dang chord progressions and quiet-LOUD-quiet scheme that Smashing Pumpkins played into the ground in 1994, I'll turn you off in a hot minute.

There is some great devotional music out there -- the Reverend Al Green, anyone? -- but "Christian rock" is the most bland, mercenary, joyless genre I can think of. Bleh.

Default One good Xian rock band.

I had a friend introduce me to them in the early 80's. They were called Petra. I don't know if they are still around, and I don't know if there contemporary stuff (if it exists) is any good, but they had a song from one of their early album's called "Judas' Kiss" that really kicked ass.

Their music is quite original, they pre-dated the 'hair metal' bands, and even though I was an atheist way back then, I still liked the head bangin' flavor of that album...and after a quick google search, the name of the album is "More Power To Ya".

If there is a god, it is google.

Cheers,
Lane
