It did wonders for the membership, but something else entirely for the server load. :banghead:

Oh, and I found it on a web search for atheism or something.

I had just read Evidence that demands a verdict by Josh McDowell and had found it most unsatisfactory.

I was looking for a site with some counter-arguments to see if I could get more details on specific apologetic issues and lo and behold the wonderful work: The Jury Is In: The Ruling on McDowell's "Evidence"

With such intellectual food for thought, the II library became my new home for quite some time after that... and then it was on to the Fora for me.

I found this site in late 95 or in 96 sometime. I had previously lurked on alt.atheism and alt.atheism.moderated for some time previously. I think I saw it mentioned on those sites. Came over here and felt at home. Lurked off and on for some years before finally registering.

Default Worship the Squid!

I found this site via a few links that I followed from "The Enlightened Despot". (I'm too lazy to look up the link now)

My wife sent me that, I read through it, and it reminded me f all the arguments I used to have with a (still) very good born again friend of mine.

And I've been making myself a pain in the ass ever since. I think I might start a post slutting thread just to get that 'New User' label changed.

Ditto for me. After laughing my ass off at that thread, I had a look around and joined up on the spot thinking "halle-fucking-lujah!"

I did a google search on atheism and found this place. I registered but didn't post much because I found this site frightening. I belonged at the time to a cosy little forum with not much happening and here I felt that too much was happening and I couldn't keep up. A few months later my cosy little site imploded and I came back here and have been here ever since. Now try getting rid of me!

Followed a link to the E/C forum from talkorigins a couple years back. Lurked for a bit and then registered.

I don't post much, but I do enjoy the civil and intelligent community (unlike many other boards).

Although I suppose some might argue the civil nature of II.

Found the place in November 2001. I used to play chess at a site that has lots of message boards, including one for discussions of religion. One day someone there posted the url for the Skeptic's Annotated Bible. The SAB site has a link to the II Newswire, and clicking on that link got me here.
