I saw what I think is the worst commercial ive ever seen today, the new pepsi hip hop commercial.
1. It paired LL cool J (WACK!) with Run-DMC (cool)! 2. This fucking horrible commerical was dedicated to the memory of Jam Masta Jay, as if he would like his memory tainted with such sickening and dull comercialism. 3. The whole rap song was about how you should drink dr. pepper because dr. pepper promotes individuality. Fucking shit I heard individual 5 times in the commerical. There is NOTHING individual about a soft drink brand!!! man I hate capitalism. |

I mean it's one thing for a corporation to exploit Jay's image. They didn't give a damn about him when he was alive. But the other two members of Run DMC were supposed to be his friends, but it looks like they fully endorse Dr. Pepper's ad. |

I thought the one with Sugar Ray was worse. They had him singing about individuality while impersonating Buddy Holly. That much irony makes my head hurt.

And come on--do you really hate the idea of people providing goods and services for profit? Or is it "corporate" capitalism you hate? |

someone else pointed out to me that in reality the commercial says "Run-DMC and jam-Dr. Pepper" and then after that they say its for his memory. Ugh.
GSH: you are right. screw em all. |

IIRC, the ad was made before the Jam Master was murdered and it was turned into a "memorial commercial" or whatever afterward. I'm pretty sure all members of the group had been trying to make some cash recently. I remember watching them at the Grammies (I think). One of the guys yelled "we're going on tour opening for Aerosmith [awkward pause as he waited for a response and got silence] well yah, it's pretty big for us."
