Yeah Mechanical Bliss is cool. I like everyone, even those I disagree with, unless it is an outright attack, the open forums should be a little more lenient, I like reading all the good posts Mech Bliss posts, and others, Im not sure about that new guy Tim Baylor, or Burton or something, his posts are like reading a book.

If I was an admin again, I would try to stop all the bannings, I mean yeah there are certain people that should be banned, but so far people like Scarlatti and Mech Bliss, and Smilin, I don't really see the need for a banning, I'll miss Scarlatti and his Hovind avatar, everytime he posts something funny I associate those posts with Hovind and it cracks me up.

And what about you Pedro, are you going to be allowed back? I know we had our little bouts, but I never saw that you deserved a banning, in fact I believe you corrected me on a few points.

I mean they have allowed atheists and apologetics, so why not allow these people to be themselves as long as they are not cussing or flaming?

If they are marking people, why allow atheists there in the first place?

Oh BTW, I have more warnings than most of ya's I'll bet. , hard to believe? Well it's true.

Everyone has more warnings than me, just about; I got exactly one, and it was rescinded when I PM'd the mod and clarified the intent of my post.

I don't know why. I suspect this is actually unfair, but I'm not sure *why* it happens. I guess I'm pretty patient, and thus hard to bait.

He's a good guy, and he's been there as long or longer than me, I hope he doesn't get into trouble.

Well when you publicly tell the staff that they crap on you, then I guess you get warned. LOL, I couldn't help myself.

I have two warnings. One is a fake one by LouisBooth. One of the other admins looked into it for me and even found the post where I supposedly did "something", (I don't what) but there was no sign of Booth editing it.
I never received a warning and I certainly don't know what it was for.

I only lurk on CF and (until now) on this thread, but one thing keeps jumping out at me. Isn't the purpose of moderation to maintain the quality of a discussion (so nobody has to waste their time with troll posts, insults, derailing, etc...) and it's ultimately up to the participants to determine the content?

I can understand warning for flaming, cursing, even insulting the faith... but it seems like the CF mods are trying to manipulate the actual content of the discussions... that's not their job. Is it?

I guess if you think you're facilitating the Divine, all bets are off. But really. Damn.

(These observations are cruelly obvious, I know. But if people are watching...)

Yes. See the thread on Baiting in the Suggestions forum over there.

I think the mods are as much victims of manipulation as anything. I wrote an essay on this a few pages back in this thread...

Damnation, why is LouisBooths sockpuppet, Outspoken allowed to stay?
Erwin has NEVER answered any questions on that subject. And it is brought up often enough...last time was yesterday.

I agree Sauron, integrity on CF is sadly lacking.

I have often wondered what the deal with LouisBooth is. The guy is very different from all the other moderators. The one thing I can think of is that he was one of the staff at "King's Tavern", one of the BBS's that became part of CF; perhaps the agreement that led to merging them included a committment to keep the old staff?

It would not surprise me to find some integrity at the heart of the apparently strange decision to keep him on staff despite his questionable behaviors.

But at the expense of the entire site? His behavior puts a black mark on the staff.
And we all suffer for it.
