Any confirmation on those figures? I know the was several million years until evidence of life after the coelesenceof the planet.

I'll look around monday, but I'd be surprised if either figure was off by much. Also, let me clarify that by Phanerozoic I mean Cambrian (~550Ma) and younger, not all sediments deposits since the first life appeared.
