Default Where was Eminem?

I must be out of the loop. I watched that crappy Hollywood circle-jerk for 3.5 hours last night, just so I could see Eminem perform that song. Where the heck was he?! Last I'd heard he was going to behave and sing the radio edit, and everybody was happy and okay. Did something happen? Enlighten me, please!

Shhhhhhhh......... It's a secret. Don't tell J.D. She must be kept in the dark. Marshall wasn't there because he was making plans for J.D.'s secret birthday surprise party.

Seriously, if it was in the news, I missed it. Sorry if it's old news, but I was in Vegas all last week and didn't watch any news. I didn't even know we were at war. Just kidding, I'm not that oblivious. But seriously . . .

where was Eminem? shhh... I won't tell anyone.

Default There, There....

I searched high and low for you Jennifer, babe. The best I could find was some mealy-mouthed "he was working. No, I mean he was on vacation. (Yes, they'll buy that.)" PR flunkies bullshit. Here's the story, fwiw.

All I know is that he's going to get some mileage out of Barbara Streisand's snooty reaction to first his nomination and then his win.
She will be an unwilling showpiece in a future Eminem video.

100% off-topic, but wasn't U2's song rubbish? And isn't Bono's voice going? Or did he just have a bad throat that day?

As for Eminem, it would have been cool if he'd been there, but there could be any perfectly adequate reason why he wasn't. I'm not going to lose sleep over it.

LOL, oops. Point taken. I should have said "perform" or some other more appropriate verb.

I agree Bono sucks, but U2 has always been one of my least favorite bands (*ducks*).

Thanks for the link. Vacation, hmmm? okay...

I wonder why nobody else performed the song, then. I mean they had Robin Williams sing that O Canada song when the original singer was dead. They couldn't have an alternate when the artist was just "on vacation"? I just noticed that the song was conspicuously absent. Like there were five nominees but only four songs. And the absent song was the winner? If I was from outer space and didn't know about Marshall's rep, I would have been super confused and think I had missed it. I guess my question is, what's Oscar's explanation? Has there ever been another case where a nominated song was not performed? I mean they didn't even mention that it was not performed.

I did not notice that about Barbara Streisand. I was so irritated by that point about having missed Eminem's performance (after waiting three agonizing hours for it), that her head could have fallen off and I'd still have been bitching about the other issue.

Anyway, thanks for the help you guys! I guess I'll just have to rent the DVD if I want to see him perform that song again.
