i may be mistaken, but i believe the reason for light not reaching us from some galaxies is that 'if' the big-bang theory is correct, the 'inflation' took place at a rate faster than the speed of light. it is not that they are so far away that is wont get here... it 'inflated' faster than light can travel. so light can never 'make-up' the difference.

Has there been a degradation in the speed of inflation? Gravitational pull would seem to be a factor. Or, perhaps, the existent mass would not have any effect.
