Exclamation When I was in high school...

... my spell checker was called a "dic-tion-ary"
... for a thesaurus, I pulled out a copy of Roget's
... cut and paste meant using scissors and glue (or Scotch tape)
... my "word processor" was a typewriter (learned on a non-electric one even!)
... to quickly get another copy meant using the Xerox machine at the library (you know, the place with all the books)
... handwritten was fine if you didn't have access to a typewriter

Of course, I did do some smaller papers on (school) computer ... and I say small, because we weren't given tons of disk space (heck, the school's server had a 1M hard drive), and you had to do all the double-spacing yourself. The only nice thing about that though, was the printer could give you 10+ pages in about 10 seconds!

Prepositions aren't things you should end sentences with.

The first time I was required to write a paper with double-spacing, what I turned in had two spaces between each word.:banghead:

By the time I got to college, handwritten essays were banned - they simply would not be accepted.

I think this was because torturing teachers is still illegal.

My college english teacher accepted papers handwritten during lunch before class...only taking a single letter grade down...resulting in a B. Then again I was "special" to her.

Well, otherwise you end up with the "kind of English up with which I will not put!", as Sir Winston once put it.

And I remember getting papers marked down because I hadn't written them by hand. Handwriting sometimes seems to be the most important thing of all in Dutch schools. OK, well in the ones I went to, then.

Hopefully, you're being sarcastic.
