Hello SUTG,
I live in the natural world and to me the supernatural is irrelevant. Do you think god is relevant? If so, why? Starboy |

Heh, my first post...
I would consider myself a "weak" atheist/agnostic... I suppose my disbelief in the christian concept of a god that dishes out "justice" at the end of time is largely the result of my belief that no human really has complete control over their life - a lack of free will, I suppose. People are the product of two things - their experiences and their physical makeup - neither of which is under an individual's control. This, of course, is also demonstrated by the fact that a person's religion will likely follow that of their parents' or that of the geographical region in which they live. Not a very just god that damns a person for the geographical location of his/her birth. I suppose it all comes down to my belief that "justice" is a primitive and illusory concept and that any deity touted as dealing out divine justice based on the lives he made us live is inherently a primitive and illusory god. |

Errors in the holy texts? Interpretation errors. Or gods holy code. Or you need to believe firstm then you can understand. Failed prayer? Well, there's always the divine plan, right? As Carlin said, "What's god a divine plan if anu rundown schmuck with a $2 prayer book can come along and fuck things up?". But easily explained by theists or not, they work for me. |

Because since I gave up the notion of a god, I am happier. Try it, you'll like it.

There are plenty of good rational reasons. I recommend the infidels library. |

To expand, I need no reason to disbelieve, as disbelief in a thing is a default position. I do not believe that the world is a flat disc moving through space on the back of a giant turtle. I do not believe that magic gnomes tell me the future through the sound of my rice krispies. I do not beleive in god. Give me a reason to believe in god that makes sense and I may change my viewpoint, but so far i've never heard one. [I also obviously don't believe in the rules of spelling or grammer, or I wouldn't have to keep editing my posts] [ August 04, 2002: Message edited by: DVF ]</p> |
