I did it!
I rigged my borther's Xbox controller (more specifically, his controller's extension cord) into a USB cable. Now, with the help of some drivers I found on-line, I have an Xbox controller that I can use to play Splinter Cell and NHL 2002 on my PC! I rule! If you want to do this yourself for whatever reason: 1 XBOX controller extension cord 1 USB cable of any type (you'll be using the USB end anyway) 1 pair finger nail clippers 1 roll electrical tape 1 pair scissors just cut the cords, there will be red, green, white, and black wires. cut their insulation, twist them together. Then tape the two together. Do this for each color. (BTW, the Xbox controller/extension cord has an extra yellow wire. just ignore that) Then plug the controller into the extension cord. If your comp detects new hardware, it should work (it should detect it as a HID-compatible controller). If that worked, you did the wiring correctly. Now install some driver action: http://sourceforge.net/projects/xboxhid/ I'd like to thank my brother and skipping class for making this all possible! |

I like the more subtle dig at the XBox controller.

I hate the Xbox controllers. NO way would I spend time and effort to be able to use them with my computer too - what's wrong with a mouse and keyboard?

You spent all that time and effort getting an Xbox controller to work with the PC version of Splinter Cell? When the PC already has a vastly more precise and functional gaming interface [mouse and keyboard]?
Dude, that's like a soldier throwing away his M-16 on the battlefield in favor of his home-made potato cannon. That's like breaking open a TV screen so you can hold puppet shows inside the box. Just because it took you a lot of effort and you had to break things to do it, does not actually make it cool. |

Anyway, why not just buy an adapter?
