Our school had a baking club. Were they pushing baking on me?</strong>
Darn right they were. Those immoral students were not only committing the sin of bakery, but also forcing upright, moral students to stray away from the normal practices of broiling and frying.

I have no problem with microbaking, but macrobaking is an unproven theory and has no place in our schools.

If these kids are anything like the kids that I went to highschool with, more than half of them "protested" simply because it gave them a semi-legitimate excuse not to go to school.

I have a suspicion that this is the case, and only because I've seen something similar at my school.

I did hear that the term "bigot" comes from the name of Nathaniel Bigot (or possibly Biggot), a sort of Fred Phelps of his day (mid 1600s, Cromwell time). He was quite possibly a preacher, and definitely a Puritan, with a capital P, who used to annoy people by going to plays and standing up during the performance to preach against vanity etc. I'm pretty sure he died of a heart attack.

Of course, I've seen your explanation in more places, so yours might be more true.

Hmm... sounds very much like parents organizing an anti-gay rally, and kids going with it because they get a day off from school. Everybody wins, except for those darn secular humanists burning in hell (praise the lord!), but who cares about them anyway?

PRECISELY.

I can't count the number of people I've run across who are amazed at my opinion that the Boy Scouts are a bigoted organization because they exclude gays and atheists, and say "But that's the sincere belief of the organization."

Fair enough; but just because you're a bigot who thinks God's backing your play doesn't make you any less of a bigot.

It rarely works, pointing this out. Either they don't get it, or they proudly affirm their prejudices.

Like most of those idiots at the Baptist Board, especially the one who dragged out the tired old "homosexuality=pedophilia=bestiality" argument.

What's Rev. Joshua doing there? He's a diamond in a dungheap.

Unhappy

I would have to agree. Most of those students stayed home simply because they could, not because they were protesting. GMAFB!

I'm also angry because this happened less than a hundred miles away from me. People from Kentucky have enough problems with stereotyping already, and now we're going to add homophobia to the list. Grrr.

Too true. In reality, there is rampant bigottry going on the in open in our culture, and a bunch of homosexuals (and, quite probably, non-bigotted straights) are rising up to stamp it out.

And the bigots are pissed.
