Ok, so no confirmation as to why this plane was hijacked. I am wondering, will the Iraqi people put 2 and 2 together as quickly as i did and decide that hi-jacking a commercial plane, flying it towards Bagdad (and american troops) would create quite a quandry for our military.
I mean...shoot down a passenger plane or let it become a guided missile heading towards your troups? Oh what a mess we have started! vb |

I think the coalition forces would not hesitate to shoot down a plane if they knew it was going to crash into a coalition position. Looking at the cold, hard facts, it's not like the passengers are going to survive such a suicide crash anyway.
An ugly situation, and a no-win situation, for the coalition (read: U.S.) |

I don't know if this has been confirmed, but I'm watching Sky News at the moment and I thought I heard a few minutes ago one of the news anchors that there were Turkish government officials on the flight. At least that's what I thought they said.

Rumours are that it's been refuelled in Athens at the moment. Sky News have repeated claims that senior Turkish government officials including an ex-government minister might be onboard.

Forgive my ignorance, who would be targeting the Turks?
