This is the plot of the satirical novel, Towing Jehovah by James Morrow.

In the novel, the remaining angels carry out what they assume to be God's final wishes. To wit, they carve a tomb out of arctic ice and hire a supertanker to salvage the corpse and inter it there. Then they die of terminal empathy.

Some of the supertanker crew go wild, without God to impose morality upon them. Others see it as an opportunity to seek the Kantian categorical imperitive. And others try to destroy the corpse before it is used to validate thousands of years of patriarchy.

Morrow wrote a sequel, Blameless in Abaddon, which I have not read. So who knows?
You forgot to mention that the corpse was essentially turned into an amusement park as well.

Didn't the Beatles do this one 40 or so years ago?

Well, maybe not the Beatles---------they just said they were more popular than Jesus as I recall. Which really ticked a lot of people off. Didn't hurt their record sales though. My have times changed.

Anyway, somebody did in the mid-sixties. I remember "Is God dead?" being on the cover of Time magazine.

What if god died....

...again?

...and Jesus was the beneficiary of His life insurance policy?

...and woke up in an afterlife where Q was God?

...and He hadn't signed an organ donor card?

...and Colonel Mustard was in the library with the candlestick but Miss Peacock was in the cellar with the gun?

...but then regenerated, just like Doctor Who?

Jobar: I'd say that we should wait at least three days before doing anything.

Oh, yeah, and have a HUGE media presence keeping eyes and cameras- lots and lots of both- on the body. *This* time, we won't have all that nonsense about him having 'risen' anything but a stench!

Sorry but if he does not rise again, it's not God,

It will be another publicity stunt by that Zeus fellow again!!!!!!!!!!
