While I'm not a smoker, the one ad that has had the greatest impact on me was with the elderly gentleman discussing his wife and his habit. She was concerned for his health, but it was inferred that she died as a result of his smoke.

Was effective for getting people to stop or preventing others from starting? I don't know, but it was definately memorable.

That's bullshit. The legislation to ban smoking in public areas is right on the mark. It's a shame that we must make laws to force other people to be a bit considerate towards others.
What's really as shame is that people are made to believe things that really aren't true. Most of this second-hand smoke hoopla is bullshit. (Check out Penn & Teller's Bullshit Second-hand smoke episode on Showtime [url]www.sho.com[\url]). And, the bans on smoking are causing smokers to become more obnoxious. Think about it. If they started smoking to be rebellious, and they're being told that they can't smoke in public, why do you think you're getting so much smoke blown into your face now?

I remember the days when there was a smoking section in restaurants. I'd go in and have to wait an hour to get a table in the tiny smoking section while non-smokers who chose "first available" went ahead of me. Then when I was finally seated, I had to listen to non-smokers, seated in the smoking section, cough and bitch about all the cigarette smoke. This happened on more occasions than I can count, and also made me smoke more cigarettes in one sitting than I normally would.
