To all:

In hot pursuit, I have found a site that sheds some "light",<a href="http://aaiil.org/text/acus/islam/aishahage.shtml" target="_blank">here</a>.

Far from being anti-Islamic propaganda, it turns out that this is a controversy of tradition within Islam itself, with some apparently holding that it is indeed the case that A'isha was six when married, nine when the marriage was consummated, and by Allah, that's OK!!!

Not that I really expected anything to the contrary, but my short meanderings on this one topic have turned up enough general info on Islam to show me that it is the same old same old. There is some pretty good scholarly stuff about End Times per Islam in a PDF file<a href="http://www.mille.org/publications/Confpro98/teipen.PDF" target="_blank">here</a>, one of the interesting points being that Islam has to end before the Day of Judgement, or Day of Resurrection (I don't recall exactly which).

There is no more reason, for me at least, to hold true the revelation of Muhammad than the revelation of my tom-cat that may or may not have been in a dream I had last night. Sorry Zengi, no sale.

Exactly. Or, as I like to put it:

I've never seen any God.

What I have seen is a whole bunch of people trying to cram their notion of God down my throat.

The meaning of these observations is, to me, scam.

After making this decleration, it appears God is apathetic towards saving my soul from eternal torment. Hardly compelling stuff. <img src="graemlins/notworthy.gif" border="0" alt="[Not Worthy]" />

It is not marriage at six years old I object to, because state-marriages at such ages are not unknown. it is Mohummad bedding Aisha when she was 9 that I object to.

Honestly, Mohummad's sex life is such a mess!
did you know his followers felt it is a sign of god-given potency that he had sex 9 times in one night?

Yeah, I was thinking along the lines of the marriage being consummated anywhere near such time in the child A'isha's life.

It certainly seems a major blow against any form of objective morality being obtained from Allah through the words of His Prophet...
