There is no evidence that denies the existence of God Ask yourself your own question, then: Do you have all the evidence available in the universe? That's arrogance, Magus; since you can apparently spot it, you should know it. In any case, one thing that "supports the view that your God doesn't exist" is the total lack of evidence of his existence. What, would you expect us to find a big plaque that said "God Doesn't Exist" or something? You also said: the thing supporting my view is reassurance from God himself How do you know it was from God himself? Did you see the big dude? And are you talking about a personal experience? If so, that kind of personal experience may be used to support your belief to yourself (though there are problems with that - how do you know the reassurance was truly from God?) but is useless in support of your beliefs to others. Anyway, I'd suggest taking any continued discussion along the existence line to EoG. |

And God is only contradictory to the atheist. I see absolutely no contradiction with God's nature. |

Magus: You know for a fact that God doesn't exist, you know for a fact humans evolved from sludge and apes, you know for a fact the world is 5 billion years old
Since there is overhwelmingly more evidence for all the above than any view you've ever put forward to the contrary, yes, I guess most of us are quite happy to view these things as fact. It's your problem if you are too frightened to face reality, sweetheart, not ours. Magus: How do you know witches didn't actually cast real magic 3000 years ago? Because there is no such thing as magic, Magus. If you know differently, please present us with the evidence. Magus: Do you believe the witches in Salem actually casted real spells and magic? No, of course not. Try reading something other than your Bibble occasionally, Magus. Arthur Millar’s “The Crucible” would be a good starting place to start. The Salem witch trials were most probably the result of religious hysteria, personal vindictiveness and sheer bloody ignorance. Happens all the time (the McCarthy trials of the 1950's, for instance, though in that instance it was political hysteria rather than religious). For crying out loud, Magus, try interracting with the real world once in a while. It really isn't all that bad, you know! |

And to solve your problem about the sarcasm - simply stop posting. Then there'll be nothing you have to be sarcastic towards. |

To get the thread somewhat back on topic, Blasphemy is still a crime in Ireland, so far as I am aware.
It rose its ugly head in the last few years when a complaint was raised about a cartoon lampooning the anti-divorce campaign's posters appeared in a national newspaper. The guy who brought the action persisted in pursuing it through the court system despite being told repeatedly that the offence of blasphemy was so poorly defined that there would never be a hope of winning his case. He took it all the way to the Supreme Court, where he was told by an exasperated bench that he had taken up enough court time, that the court backed up the decision that every court below it had made, and that since he had ignored those rulings he would be liable for all costs. Ouch!! The result is that there will never be a succesful prosecution for the offence in Ireland. The result also precludes any necessity to remove it from the books. That type of housekeeping is costly, even if it is desirable to remove such anomolous legislation from the books. |

You're batting 3 for 3 so far. Keep 'em coming! Thanks for the news, Nialler. I guess I'll leave my (ahem) controversial T-shirt at home. |
