It seems that someone has gotten to the point of it already here earlier, but it bears repeating: for the most part, the one thing all atheists have in common is their lack of belief in god(s). Period. Other than that, we're as diverse as any other cross-section of society. Take even a church congregation for instance. You'll find folks with different political and social ideas, members who think their church is too liberal, some who think it's too conservative.

thank you, Depeche Mode
Hmm... interesting idea, Tibbs. I don't think it's that far off for some.

I think it's your favourite amusement.

OK, OK, I got distracted by beating up paedophiles.
But I'll get back here very soon (and Politics of Language a bit later).
Hey, I'm sorry.

I bumped the thread up because it had moved onto the second page. I was afraid it wasn't getting the attention it deserves.

*shrugs*

I was teasing you, as well as teasing myself, as well as reminding myself to get back to this.

Sorry for the delay, I haven't been perusing the board all that much recently. Excellent post there, Gurdur. Now I see that we have much in common. I, too, was a Dawkins fan back then, and swallowed memetics like it was evidently true. Now I'm not so sure, heck I think it's more pseudoscience than protoscience.

I also agree that hanging in this board for two years or so have made me realize that atheism is not the answer, but a compassionate and socially active humanism, religious or secular. Some rabid atheists can be just as irrational and obnoxious as the worst theist online. So nonbelief in itself is not enough, or if it is even required.

Kudos!
