Once an entemologist had completed years of exhaustive study, he was asked by a theologian what he learned from the endeavor.
He said, "God has an inordinate fondness of beetles." There are about 200,000 species of beetle identified by man. Was this man just being facetious? best, Peter Kirby |

I'm not really sure, peter. Was the entemologist a christian? I suppose there's a good chance he was being sarcastic. What do you think?

Yes, exactly. It starts from whether we think that what we think is important is important to the universe.

And what exactly is important to you? Do you think it's the same as what is important to the universe? |

Do you think the scientist you mentioned was referring to symbolism when he made his comment about God, and beetles? I wonder what he could have meant. |

Exactly. The beauty of denotation and connotation.
The blessed mystery of deduction and induction. Are we a blank slate? Do we remember? best, Peter Kirby |

I'm not really sure. Are you referring to childhood? I would think we lack the ability to remember such things(save for bits and pieces) early on in childhood. |

Think of me as the writer in "Alice in Wonderland" if you prefer. We on the internet are all taking a trip down the memory hole chasing rabbits, arguing with mythological creatures spouting platitudes, until we end up crying and wishing for our English nanny.
I think that there is one common reason in all humans. best, Peter Kirby |

What do you think that reason is? To work for a greater good? To eventually have this whole "meaning of life" thing figured out? |
