Very true Helen. Baptism has nothing to do with salvation but is needed or usefull to work out your own salvation.

Are you sure it is officially ruled out? I understand that it is not eliminated but just not discussed much because it has become too confusing from the "many question."

Actually, I was being a bit duplicitous when posing the original question and bringing in babies (which I was taught go to Purgatory - an old-fashioned term for Limbo).
I actually wanted the excuse to have a good ol’ rant about one of Christianity’s most loathsome doctrines, which I sort of assume comes from the story of the Fall. In other words, until Adam and Eve ate that apple, there was no sin. They ate it, and whooosh! - there it was, all over the place.
</strong>
Purgatory is not an old fashioned term for Limbo. Both exist, are different and real.

Adam and Eve did not eat from the apple but woman did and gave some to man. This created Adam and Eve who were banned from Eden and therefore we are banned until we find a way to return.

Hi Amos! It is so great to see the master of obscuritanistic doctrine is back!

I haven't been posting much either, since we are having a real summer here in Massachusetts and I just can't see staring at this foolish monitor just now.

Wow, great! Limbo and purgatory are different places. Adam and Eve were created before they existed and ate apples together. Just love that stuff!

Great to see you are back.

Hi sullster, how are you? I actually wondered if you were still here. We have had a real hot, hot summer and now it is raining out.

Of course limbo and purgatory are different. They have to be because protestants can get to limbo but not to purgatory or the odd one could sneek into heaven.

Adam and Eve were created when man and woman ate from the apple. It is when "their eyes were opened" that Adam and Eve were created.

It's fun here and nice to see you here. Thanks for saying hello.

Amos, is there Biblical support for Purgatory and Limbo? I was raised protestant and had never even heard of those places until I listened to a George Carlin record.

Well, yes, the third river of Gen.2:14 designates Purgatory just prior to Heaven which here is the Euphrates.

Similarly, the Gosples take place in purgatory to end with Ascention. In the Gospels the Christ-child is born and the transformation of the inner man at the cost and destruction of the exterior image of man is the process of Purgation.

The word Limbo is derrived from Lymbic system and signifies that the unbaptised person must go through life without a fine-tuned religion that is able to give eternal direction to the life of the sojourner. As I wrote before, this is why Communion with the Saints is essential.

I should clarify that in my opinion heaven, hell, purgatory and limbo are not places but states of mind.

It is amazing how much can be written on so little.

Original sin.
Please give me all the verses that talk about the original sin in the Bible.

It can't be more than a handful somewhere in the epitles.

Jesus does not say a single word on the subject.
Apart from the false interpretation of the garden of Eden story the OT does not say a single word on it either.

Isn't it strange that not one prophet of God in the OT has anything to say about the fall of mankind and the need for a saviour.

Isn't it strange that Jesus did not state that this was his purpose.

Purgatory, Limbo.
Ditto. Please provide all verses which talk about it.

Are we to be surprized that Christians today cannot agree on these subjects?
