I would be curious to know, TheistGal, if you would vote for an atheist political candidate, or in other ways deviate from the theist norm?
Just curious Thanks |

"One of the reasons I started posting here was in the hope I could persuade atheists (non-theists, maybe I should say; I'm not sure) that they serve their cause better by behaving well, than by not."
I will say it to you, my theist friend, as I have said it to atheist proponents of the same position I have run across on this very same board: Truth, honesty and sincerity do not emanate from packaging or marketing. There are vast numbers of Picards in both camps along with similar populations of Kirks (sci-fi geek analogy ends ) Reality vs Myth is the issue regardless if I am a raving loon about it or if I try to buddha you silly with a feather pillow. That is as simple as it gets. |

Theist Gal:
I think the hijackers' God gave them a *much* bigger miracle - they completely demolished both of the towers! (just like in the OT where God was a God of war) And those firemen just went in there, because it's their job, and they died! I don't see any miracle from the Christian God there. oh never mind But, back to one of your points I know that honesty, sincerety and truth aren't exclusively seen among Christians and I also know that not all Christians exemplify those traits either. (Unfortunately, from my p.o.v - meaning, I wish more of them would be better examples of what they say they believe in ) And back to another - I guess I would say, while we're all trying to prove we're right, how about we be as civil as possible about it? love Helen [ June 26, 2002: Message edited by: HelenSL ] [ June 26, 2002: Message edited by: HelenSL ]</p> |

Congratulations - out of ALL the questions I could have answered, I picked yours! Mainly because (a) it's relatively easy and (b) I'm not really in the mood for a fight today. Anyhoo - the answer to your question is YES. Of course I would vote for an atheist, if he or she was the candidate who best reflected my political views and/or seemed the best alternative to the other candidates for whatever reason. I don't judge anyone solely on the basis of their religious beliefs. Thanks for asking! Love, TG |
