Question outdoorsyness of internet infidels

How many nights have you spent outside (tent counts too, plane does not) in your life?

Oh, I forgot, RV doesn't count either.

I guessed 50-100 but this does not reflect my outdoorsiness if by that term you mean a love of fresh air, nature, sleeping under the stars and all that stuff. It merely reflects my poverty and having to sleep in a pokey tent at festivals and when travelling instead of the luxury hotels I would prefer...

Not nearly enough. Not by far.

Not nearly enough for me, either (but I voted 200-500).

I'm not really sure. If RVs/travel trailers (with no hookups) counted it would be well over 1500 nights.

I'm in no way an athletic person, but if I got dropped off in the middle of the woods I guarantee I would fair much better than your average 25 year old female.

Bit climate-dependent, this question, no ?
Biased.

I'm a very outdoorsey type indeed - but in the present climate where I live, tenting is not attractive - think rain, mud, and more mud.

I prefer good living quarters, and from there to do heavy exploring/bushwalking during the day.

If I was back in West Australia, I'ld have no objections to tenting at all, especially near river canyons (I like to bathe)

I grew up on a farm, and in my early twenties actually lived outdoors for fourteen months straight. (My 'Walden' period.) I put down 500-1000, but it could well be over a thousand.

In the last year, though, only 2, and those were in the summer. And both were by the river in my back yard.

Probably about 5 - 10 for me. I like nature walks and stuff, but then I like to go home to my warm bed, flush toilet and hot shower. Sigh... I've been domesticated, I'm afraid.

Actually I have really enjoyed camping once I'm out there doing it, it's just difficult to motivate me to get out there in the first place.

A quote from Calvin and Hobbes comes to mind - "The problem with Nature is that there's always something that wants to bite you, sting you, or ooze slime on you." (I may be paraphrasing, it's been a while since I've seen it.)

Default Caves?

In my answer I've assumed that 'in a cave in a sleeping bag' constitutes an "outside" place.

And if you want to know why IN the cave, well, it's 62F in there, and about -20F outside. Anybody still puzzled?

Off topic fact:

I have, over and over again, had people say to me: "You went in the cave AFTER DARK?!?!"

You figure.
