Yah, like ME!!! :banghead:

Howdy Smilin'!

We're havin' a UFO conference here in three weeks, so I'm sure that will provide hours of fundie/weirdo fun!!

Lessee, recent sign seen....hmm...

nothin' too good, just a lot of "fear god" crap. Maybe they'll change them over tomorrow.
A UFO conference... that would be just as much fun as those town meetings against nuclear power... where they make all kinds of crazy ass claims....lol

Elizabethton... Beautiful Country!

Well, the theology is...as humans we all sin. We all deserve hell because of our transgressions. Jesus is the only cure for this. Therefore, when we do 'good things' it means nothing (since we are slime with the power and forgiveness of the blood of Jesus washing us.) All 'good' comes from God, god is good, good is god......

etc....

sounds just plain silly doesn't it?
Let me second the thanks, and add that it shouldn't take that long to explain a one-line billboard sentence. It's kinda like short jokes ... if it takes you 10 min. to explain it, it's just not funny.

I live in Florida, and there is a church I saw once on a drive to work in Tampa, that said "Better to roast in here for an hour than to roast down there for eternity." [the church had no air conditioning] hehe.

Hee haw!
I saw one the other day that simply said "We are not politically correct, but Biblically based".
Translation:
"We're bigots, as the Bible commands!"

I saw one this morning on my commute in:

Have you recently been created in the eyes of God?

WTF is that supposed to mean??????????????

A sign from a church in Memphis, TN...

"Jesus died for you yesterday so you can face tomorrow"

I'm just picturing a bunch of suicidally depressed church-goers trying to face tomorrow. Maybe they hand out prozac during the services?

Wow, I was a fundie once and I can't figure it out. I don't remember anything in the bible talking about being "created in the eyes of God." Throwing "recently" in there just makes it more cryptic. Maybe it's a saying that is particular to that church or that area. Or maybe someone thinks they're being clever by mixing metaphors (don't ask me what they're mixing).

Maybe they're asking if you're a "new" Christian or were you recently baptised or born. I don't know, my whole family is Catholic and I can't remember anything about "being created in the eyes of god."

Default "his image and likeness"

so to me he wears glasses,
thinks he's funny
at times a major jerk...
almost makes me wish
i lived down there
to get these righteous quips
... for sure they're funny ...

Hi Melissa,

Usually they refer to being a 'new' or 'born-again' Christian in this area.

Now, apparantly, people are being 'newly created'.

Maybe I'll get to meet one of these 'new creatures' at the lake this weekend...
