Here's another approach: when people say "God" insist that they specify which god they are referring to.

"Do you mean one of the Greek or Hindu gods?" Or "specifically which version of the Christian god- the Baptist or Mormon version?"

Yes, one has to do that for other people, but for oneself, kill off the word god/God. Why not just use the term nature?

Using the term god/God in one’s own philosophy saddles you with the burden of all those other god prejudices in peoples’ minds, (different conceptions in different minds). Then you have to say to people, “No I don’t mean this god or that god or the other god, I mean my own god, which is nature”. Why not just say nature to begin with?

Tao of Pooh, a quaint custom, but Nepalis are not alone in this. In nearly all over India, nine days in October and April are designated as the days for worship of the Mother Godess. Many hindus do not eat non-vegetarian diet during these days (Nava Ratra). The Mother Godess is worshiped in her nine forms. On the eighth day nine girls (and one boy) below age of 10 are worshiped, offered sweets, garlanded, prostrated before, their feet are washed, vermillon marks applied on their foreheads, given gifts. Girls in Bengal and Tamilnadu are usually called as 'mother', 'ma', amma'.

The living Goddess of Nepal got into a problem recently because of her travel to USA, which was not expected of her. There were talks that she should be replaced. I do not know the final outcome of the debate.

Oh, I know there are more living goddesses, as well as living gods, I just posted the more well known example

It matters not how you die...as long as you die a better person than you hoped, and no worse a person than you feared.
