I only saw it for a few minutes.
There was a mexican actor from "Y tu mama tambien" who announced a song from "Frida" and said sth nice to the effect that "she would stand wiht us against this war" or sth - which was greeted by mild applause and enthusiastic overhead clapping by Selma Hayek. She looked pretty hot too!

Is Michael Moore the guy who did a show called The awful truth on telly a few years ago? If he is, I watched a few episodes of it and thought he was brilliant!

As for the Oscars - I doubt I'll be watching - far too boring for my liking.

This is the 9,007th oh, alright, the fourth message board discussion I contributed to on the subject of Moore.

Personally, I've never read any of his books, nor seen any of his films. I am, however, totally prepared to adore him just for the enemies he makes. So any time some neo-conservative wankjob says he ought to be tried for treason or something, my love grows a little bit stronger.

It may be retarded, but it's real, oh yes.

Anyway, does "freedom of speech" not mean that people are allowed to make any sort of dumbfuck remark they please because they can? I mean, if some c*nt in Mississippi can tell people that their son is dead because God Hates Fags, I think Mr. Moore can say that he is on the side of both the pope and the Dixie Chicks.

Anyway, which particular 'tard thought that he might do something else? I mean, weren't we all predicting that Moore wouldn't, in fact, win anything precisely because we knew he would make a speech like this and we know how Hollywood hates real politics.

And as to all the people who thought he might have upset the other actors and film people, who gives a toss? Quite apart from the fact that the vast majority of them were probably so gakked off their nuts that they could barely see what was going on, how important is the Oscars anyway? It's just a collossal wankfest, and people are complaining about someone else's "ego-trip".

I would have done the exact same thing if I were to win an award live on TV. Anyone with any real belief in anything at all would have done.

The guy's an asshole. It was tactless, the timing was poor, it was obnoxious.
Of course everyone has the right to say what they want and I have the right to criticize the equivalent of a fat hairy drunk with bad breath getting out of line at a party.
He went beyond the pale and is a disgrace.

what then is your opinion of the kid from Y Tu mama tabian, Steve Martin, the guy from the Pianist and the other actors who all made political statements?

To hell with political statements, I've got to hand it to Adrien Brody from "The Pianist" for setting his priorities by using a goodly portion of his time on stage to grab hold of and take a healthy mouthful of Halle Berry!

I have a feeling that politics in Hollywood should be either absent or about as radical as plastic cheese.

I also think people'd boo Moore whatever he said.
