As one who has never hid his identy or location and who has never suffered any unpleasant consequences thereby, I wonder why so many on these forums are so reticent.

This is just a matter of curiosity on my part. No criticism intended. I am sure each person has her/his reasons.

Ok,the reason why I don't put my real name out there,is that I don't want the unpleasentness that goes along with many people,some potentially hostile,knowing who I am,or where I live.

The last thing I want is some clown signing me up for half a dozen bukkake furry porn mags,or putting my name on the mailing lists of the people who would deal in that kind of thing,because he,or she,doesn't like my views.

I think that's going to give me nightmares...

I don't tell anybody online my last name, the name of my hometown, my phone number, or anything else that could possibly be used to trace me. The reason: I'm a teenage (for another 9 months anyway) girl and I'm afraid of cyberstalkers
