Thumbs up Good news for NoCal Redwoods

The Chronicle put this article on the front page.

Quote:
A judge has struck down Pacific Lumber Co.'s state-approved 100-year logging plan, handing environmentalists a major victory in their fight to reduce cutting on the company's 211,000 acres in Humboldt County. The tentative ruling, released Monday in Eureka by visiting Superior Court Judge John Golden, found that the state Forestry Department hasn't ensured that the plan would protect endangered species and watersheds.
Diane Feinstein and the Fish and Game Dept were working for this plan, so it had some powerful backing. But the steel industry was on the side of the Sierra Club because they didn't want to see communities built up and ruined by the boom-to-bust that always happens when Pacific Lumber moves in. Nice to see the Redwoods win one! Maybe we can keep the ball rolling with a victory in Gallegos's suit against Pacific Lumber.
