Default So sick of homosexual bigotry

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. I am so sick of the allegedly "moral" religious right and their stance on gay marriage. What the fuck do they care - why is this even an issue?

Aren't there more important things to spend time/money/energy on - like crime, poverty, etc, as opposed to what hole everyone's dick is going into? Fuck.

I"m making a new bumper sticker that says the following:
Quote:
If you don't like gay sex, don't have it. Then shut the fuck up.
Who wants to place an order?

I'm not even gay - and I don't even know that many gay people - but this issue just bugs the fuck out of me. Why do people irrationally fear gays? Why do they want to deny gays and lesbians their basic human rights, and then pat themselves on the back for it? What neuronal dysfunction causes this insanity - will somebody please explain it to me?

Question Good question

Scigirl poses an interesting question. Trying to look at it objectively, and setting aside for a moment our outrage about it, why are many people so upset by gay people, gay sex, and gay rights? Is it just because of their religious beliefs, or something else? BTW, I know a lot of christian gay people who do not seem to find the conflict between their religious beliefs and their sexual preference very troubling--is this just self-delusion to reconcile their cognitive dissonance?

I think there are a wide variety of reasons that gays are feared and hated, but religion is the model used to channel that fear and hate, while simultaneously claiming the moral high ground. Religion is a powerful motivator, and this is why it can be so dangerous.

Actually homosexuality is only condemned once in the New Testament, and by Paul, not Jesus. It is called an "abomination" in the Old Testament but so is eating shellfish; they are both part of the OT laws that were (according to most theologians) nullified by Jesus. So your Christian gay friends probably understand the doctrines of Christianity better than most Christians.

YES well said. It's the only group who consistently and simultaneously does immoral actions while pretending to be moral.

TomBoy Mom - I ask myself the same question - "Why?" Why do they care? Nobody seems to care that 40 million americans are without health insurance, or that obesity is the number one killer of americans. Yet a whole heck of a lot of people care about our private sexual practices which don't cause nearly that much harm. I just don't get it.

You have to remember that the people who are promoting gay hatred are the same morons who believe that God sent the planes into the World Trade Center, Pentagon, and a Pennsylvania field as an act of vengeance for America's liberal acceptance of such sins as homosexuality. They would have us believe that by stamping out homosexuality, all the other problems will be cured when God rains his blessings down upon us...

'Course, maybe the fundies realize that they're assholes, and they're afraid that if homosexuality becomes rampant, they'll get fucked...

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!

I also think it's funny that they conveniently leave out the following facts:

1) heterosexual couples can engage in sodomy (I heard from a friend, once, that they saw it in a movie. . . )

2) lesbians can't (well not without toys)

Scigirl, I think as a form of protest you should make out with a girl in public. And send me pictures.

The part that sends me off the deep end is the fact that they're trying to get the Federal Government to legally define marriage as being only between a man and a woman, based on *their religious beliefs.* I mean, damn, every straight person should be pissed about this. It's an all out assault on the wall of seperation. As an atheist, is my legal marital status going to be challenged one day because Christians believe that marriage is only valid if it's a God-ordained institution? Fuck. That shit just pisses me off.
