Evolution (a) is true, and (b) does not prevent anyone being a Christian. Tricia, I promise you: these guys are lying to you. We can show you why their claims are lies, and you can check our evidence for yourself. Just ask. Oolon |

How can something not match it's own predictions? Do you mean it's predictions don't match the evidence? If that's the case, then inflation would be discarded fairly soon.
But at any rate, I'm not proposing that it is correct, as I do not have enough knowledge in the field to make such a statement. I am saying that, assuming inflation to be true, the BB theory is fixed. There is no reason to attack the theory without attacking inflation as well. In other words, the standard BB model isn't used anymore. In 20 years, I wouldn't be surprised to find cosmologists giving support to some kind of string theory cosmological beginning. |

Check out Alan Guth talking about the agreement between observations and inflationary theory on <a href="http://www.edge.org/documents/day/day_guth.html" target="_blank">edge.org</a>:

Maybe there was no "first matter;" maybe it was always there?

Perhaps it was; perhaps it wasn't! Either way, we'll never know for sure. As a result, no matter what you believe - faith is needed.
How did life come from matter - be it the matter that always was, or the matter that came from nothing? |
