Perhaps because there is a strange fascination in being right... listening to someone you disagree with, and mentally refuting everything they say, reinforces this feeling of being right.

That's half the reason I came to the iidb, anyway - to read the fundines spouting off and know that I'm right.

I thought the whole point of discussion boards was for people to expel massive quantities of hot air with barely a clue what in the world they were actually talking about?
